What political actions happened during the Cuban Missile Crisis?

Newscript for the Cuban Missile Crisis

October 22, 1962

This just in: President Kennedy announced a buildup of nuclear missiles on the Cuban base.

Presenter: Just now the president addressed to the nation that a U-2 spy plane found a buildup of nuclear missiles on the base on Cuba. The president himself and experts stated that a Soviet involvement is highly possible, and currently they are discussing about how to respond to the situation. President Kennedy assured the nation that his administration will do its best to resolve the conflict, but did mentioned that a possible war between the United States and the Soviet Union could be possible. Reporter Calvin Taylor will state the current situation in Washington D.C.

Reporter: Here I am standing at the White House press conference shortly after the President’s address. While the President wishes a negotiation or other peaceful options, he stated that the United States will use its military power should the Soviet Union try to attack or refuse to remove the missiles on Cuba.

Presenter: We are sorry to interrupt, but a new report came in just now. It states that after consideration with his cabinet members and his military strategists, the President ordered a blockade on ships entering to Cuba. This decision is rather surprising compared to his tone during the address stating that he would use the military should the Soviet Union would not remove the missiles. Our analysts state that this choice prevents any provocation of the Soviet Union. More news that is developed about the situation will be delivered as soon as possible.

This Just In: Soviet Ships Returning Back

Presenter: We have received confirmation from the Pentagon that the Soviet ships that headed to the border of the blockade have backed and is going away. However, naval tension is still rising as both countries have yet failed to find a compromise. Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev called the blockade as a violation of worldwide free water policy and demanded that his ships to pass the seas freely. The President in response have stated that the blockade would continue as long as the missiles remain in the Cuban base. We will shortly return should there be any more updates to the news.

This just In: U.S. Reconnaissance plane shot down by defense on Cuba.

Presenter: The Reconnaissance plane that was flying above Cuba to spy its missile base was shot down. The pilot, whose name is not revelad due to national security, was killed during this course of action. The president immediately ordered an preparation of invasion on Florida. Our reporter is currently at Florida to broadcast about the current situation.

Reporter: Currently, defense systems and troops are positioned on the beaches of Florida in case of a potential missile attack. Anti-missile equipments and radios are scattered all over the beach should an attack is inbound. We see on the back that there are lines of cars trying to leave Florida and people packing their bags as soon as the news reached to the homes of the residents. Most of the residential areas are deserted now as people are moving up to other states. Already you can tell from the scene that the tension is at its highest peak.

Presenter: Thank you for your report, Calvin. The military escalation is still rising up. We will announce an attack from the Soviet Union as soon as any confirmation from the pentagon is made.

After days of tenion between the countries, the problem is now resolved. Both countries vowed to install a hotline to contact each other should another conflict is to occur.
